Labor Day

We woke up with a start Monday morning to a loud crash, bang! Hailey started screaming and that was the end of our sleeping in. I have never heard thunder so loud! It was pouring like crazy outside. We were all hoping that it would have passed by morning but it looked like it wasn't going to let up.

Jared and his boys, Jake and Coby, Kalen and Mandy, and Jason's parents had all planned on going up the mountain to go to Pole Creek Cave and have a picnic. It sure didn't look like that was going to happen. We were all very bummed that the weather turned out like that.

Well around noon things were starting to look a little brighter. We decided to make a try for it. We had lunch at home, and headed up. We got Hailey all bundled up and headed out.
We got to the Cave around two and it turned out to be sunny with a slight breeze. It was beautiful! I am so glad we ended up going even though I fought it the whole way. Getting everyone ready to go into the cave was another chore! The boys (Tracin, Treven, Bodie and Casey) were so excited to go, they didn't even want to wait for us to get lights or jackets. Jason and his Dad were having a fun time trying to get the lantern going, but once it was lit we were off.
It was a blast going through the cave! Treven had some issues though. He was very upset the whole time, we tried giving him a flashlight, nothing made him happy until we were on our way out. During the spring the cave is a river and at the end of the cave is the water that flows out. There was this rope that was in the water and up on the bank. I was very worried that there was a body at the end of it! Brent (Jason's dad) pulled on it. I almost couldn't even watch. Turns out that it was tied to something in the water, so we couldn't even see what was at the end of it.

We all had a great time and can't wait to do it again next year! We drove up to the sink hole after that, which I had never seen before, but was pretty amazing. I would show pictures but my camera died before we got there. It was all great fun, we were sorry that Kalen and Mandy weren't able to go, but hope to drag them out next time!
